Seven public schools have a street address in ZIP code 35475, the largest of the three Northport-area ZIP codes. All seven are run by the Tuscaloosa County School System (TCSS). They range from pre-K and elementary campuses to two high schools: Northside High and Tuscaloosa County High. This directory of schools in 35475 lists each address and grade span where an official source states it. It also points out which campuses sit next to each other and explains why a 35475 address alone does not show which school a child will attend.

Notes on grades and street names
- Northport Elementary describes itself as serving pre-kindergarten through second grade: grades K–2 plus two special education pre-K classes. The district directory spells its street “Frankie Thomas Trace,” while the school’s site footer says “Frankie Thomas Dr.”
- Northport Intermediate says its fifth and sixth graders come from Flatwoods Elementary and Huntington Place Elementary.
- Northside Middle appears as “Northside Pkwy” in the district directory and “Northside Rd” in the school’s footer. At least one third-party directory gives it the wrong ZIP code. The district and the school both say 35475.
- Huntington Place Elementary does not state a grade span on its official pages. The Northport Intermediate page suggests it ends before fifth grade.
Huntington Place: one school, two city names
Huntington Place Elementary is a useful example of how postal details can differ between sources. The TCSS district directory lists the school’s city as Northport. The school’s own website footer gives “11601 Huntington Pl, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35475.” The ZIP code is 35475 in both, but the city name differs.
Neither postal label settles which government the building sits under. That question is answered by municipal boundary data: the Tuscaloosa County 911 address points layer places 11601 Huntington Pl inside Northport city limits. Postal city names, municipal limits and school districts are separate systems. The guide to mailing addresses versus city limits explains how to check each one, and the USPS ZIP Code Lookup shows which city name the Postal Service prefers for a given address.
Campus pairs and distances in a large ZIP
On the Census Bureau’s ZIP Code Tabulation Area map, 35475 covers much more land than 35473 or 35476. It reaches well north of the City of Northport into rural Tuscaloosa County. A ZCTA is a statistical approximation, not the official USPS delivery boundary, but the size is a useful warning. Two schools that share this ZIP code can be a long drive apart. Sharing a ZIP does not make two schools neighbors.
The addresses do show two pairs of schools on shared corridors:
- Frankie Thomas Trace: Northport Elementary (13695) and Northport Intermediate (13688) have nearly matching house numbers on the same street. TCSS treats them as separate schools with separate websites.
- Northside Parkway: Northside Middle (19130) and Northside High (19230) are on the same parkway, about a hundred house numbers apart.
Walker Elementary is on Northside Road at 13051. Tuscaloosa County High is on Wildcat Drive and Huntington Place Elementary is on Huntington Place. City limits vary within the ZIP too. County 911 address data places Northside High, Tuscaloosa County High, Huntington Place, Northport Elementary and Northport Intermediate inside Northport city limits, but places Northside Middle and Walker Elementary in unincorporated Tuscaloosa County, even though Northside Middle is next door to Northside High. Map each address on its own before planning drop-offs. Do not assume that schools with similar names or a shared ZIP are close together. The 35475 ZIP code guide has more on the area’s roads and communities.
Zoning: which schools in 35475 serve your address
With two high schools in one ZIP code, “which high school is a 35475 home zoned for?” is a common question, and the ZIP code cannot answer it. TCSS says students attend the school zoned for the parent or guardian’s legal residence. Enter the exact address in the district’s Find My School Zone & Bus Route tool. Send questions to Sara Young at sdyoung@tcss.net. The school zones explainer covers zoning in more detail.
Some 35475 homes may be zoned to schools in a different Northport ZIP. Others in the same ZIP may be assigned to different high schools. Run the lookup for every address you are seriously considering.
Career and technical education
TCSS offers career and technical education (CTE) courses in middle and high schools. Its CTE page also mentions a partnership with the Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy, a Tuscaloosa City Schools facility at 2800 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in ZIP 35401. That is a different district and a different ZIP code from these schools. The district also lists a Northport career tech annex with its own phone line, 205-342-6805, but does not publish a street address. This guide does not assign the annex a ZIP code. Contact the district or a high school counselor for details on CTE access.
